Job Description

1.* Greets patients and visitors arriving at the main hospital entrance.
2.* Provides directions to all hospital departments. Escorts guests to various areas. Colored maps are available at the information desk for assisting in directions.
 
3.* Assures that there are at least 3 wheelchairs available in the lobby.
4.* Helps with the wheel chairs, if needed. Push the chair, but do not help anyone out of the chair into their car. If anyone needs help in or out of a vehicle, or in or out of a chair, let admitting know and they will get someone.
5.* If patient comes in main entry needing assistance of the Emergency Room, escort them to the ER - if necessary, in a wheelchair.
6.* Run errands for switchboard, outpatient or ED registration.
7.* Keep all the waiting rooms neat - Straighten magazines, dispose of trash left by patients, etc. Including Cardio Pulmonary waiting area. Also, make sure that no magazines are more than 3 months old, if so, replace them.
8.* Deliver flowers or paperwork as necessary.
9.* Help with any projects when requested by various departments (ie: folding bills, mailing projects for Foundation, etc). The projects must be ones that can be done at the information desk.
10.* Escort families back to Surgery as requested.
11.* Completes competencies skills checklist and annual training checklist. (See skills & training notebooks in unit/dept.)
12.* Accept other duties as assigned.
13.* Communicates problems encountered and suggestions for improvement to Team Leader or Volunteer Coordinator.
